From the Commodore

Daylight Savings ends this weekend on Sunday 6th, with the small bonus of an extra hours sleep in. Hopefully this weekends forecast is not correct with a Heavy Rain and strong wind forecast from Metservice, otherwise it looks to be a very wet weekend for most, which is not good for boating in general.

It will also be a dampener for the Plimmerton Boat Clubs 100 year celebrations,  commencing today thru to this Sunday . They have a planned open day from 2-5pm on Sunday, then it will be normal club socialising.

Boat Shows

The Hutchwilco Boat show is coming up in Auckland on 15-18 May and it has been suggested that  club members could be attending, and may also wish to socialise with fellow club members before or afterwards, and possibly share transport and accommodation.

The Auckland Boat show is also happening next year on 5-8th March 2026, so the same applies to this event as well.

If either of these shows sounds like you, then let me know so i can put all the interested parties together for every ones benefit.

Facebook

Our Facebook page has been updated, so please keep a watch on this for videos, photos, and other  events as well, plus check out the photos of the yard work, done last week.

Yard Work and New Pontoons

The next stage is the $30k worth of pontoons, so if you are keen to sponsor 1, 2,3 or more of the new pontoons blocks @ $225.00 each, please contact myself, or the office.

The block wall (stage 1) went in very successfully, and now need a stump grinder to remove 3 large stumps, so if anyone has access to a grinder, please contact myself, to help us get this done.

The club has also just invested in a diesel fork truck to assist with yard work, and to help  club members.

Sounds Moorings Update

We have been asked by our sister clubs (Waikawa and Pelorus), if members make use of the Torea Bay and Port Underwood moorings. These moorings are becoming increasingly expensive to maintain and if members see them as valuable, and are using them, then they will be kept and maintained. However if members don't use them, then our funds are probably better spent on upgrading existing moorings or looking at adding extra moorings in more useful locations.

If you have strong or otherwise feelings about these moorings then please send me an email to commodore@manacc.co.nz ,so that I can advise our sister clubs of our findings, to add to their own survey of members.

New Cruises

The club is planning 2 new cruises this year,  with the first one  planned for Easter Weekend, or the following week with ANZAC day, heading to Queen Charlette Sounds.

Please contact Rob Paulin via email to  rob@straitconstruction.co.nz to register your interest.

The second is planned for Labour weekend and both are naturally subject to weather conditions.

Dogs

A friendly reminder that under Porirua City Council Law, all dogs must be on a lead at all times, except for their approved areas. This is also a MCC rule, for all club areas.

Always happy to discuss any items personally with anyone at their leisure.

Fishing Section Meeting

On  Wednesday 16/4/25 at 7.00pm we have the normal fishing section talk followed by a talk from Kai Ika..This is  the team that filleted most of the fish at our fishing contest for a Gold coin donation. They collected over 90 kg of fish heads and frames, which is enough protein  to create more than 50 family meals. Those who received the Kai were very grateful.

From 4-6pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. This is for Beer, Wine and RTD's.

Friday Night Business Card draws will be happening with the lucky winner taking away a bar tab voucher, and you must be present to win.

Saturday, Moana vs Waratahs at 2.05pmpm,  Drua vs Crusaders @4.35pm, Blues vs Hurricanes @ 7.05pm, and Force vs Highlanders @ 9.35pm.

This has recently been added to our web page so if you want to get rid of those old bits cluttering the garage, then let us know so we can add them to the page.

Digitized Photos on Display

During some recent tidying up, we have found and digitized a large number of photos and these will be displayed on the TV in the wardroom on club nights, or as required.

If you want to contribute to these photos with some of your own, then please contact myself or leave them at the office, and we can digitise them for the club memories.

Enjoy the memories!
