From the Commodore

This week has seen true Autumn weather with fine sunny days, then torrential rain, strong winds, cold southerlies, and fine weather again, (unbelievable), and Daylight Savings changes on Sunday 6th April

New Committee Member--Please welcome aboard Kevin Beaver, a local Paremata resident, who we have co-opted on to the current committee, under Rule 8b. Kevin comes from a strong governance background, and is the GM of a local building company.

We have a working bee on this Saturday morning, to clean up the yards in general, and also to prepare for the Eastern Yard new concrete block wall, courtesy of  Higgins Concrete….another great sponsor.

“Many hands make  light work”, so if you are free from 9.00 am, then come on down.

If you are wandering around, please be aware of heavy machinery, trucks, diggers and fork trucks all on the go. The final result will be worth the small disruptions.

Another  HUGE THANK YOU to all our very GENEROUS FISHNG CONTEST SPONSORS, and also for the organizing team in the back ground, with key players being Kim, Nikki, and Mike, with extra help by Janet, Margo, Menno, Marty and Scott.

Facebook

Our Facebook page is back up and running again, so check out the Fishing Contest photos,  and please keep a watch on this for updates, photos, and other upcoming events as well.

MCC members can fish this as well, however you must have at least 1 KBC member on board .Boats are also able to launch from Mana or Kapiti.

Plimmerton Boating Club

In conjunction with Mana Coastguard, PBC are having a “Flares” night from 7.30 tp 9pm on Friday 4th April .All are welcome to attend and to bring along your expired handheld and parachute flares

Sounds Moorings Update

We have been asked by our sister clubs (Waikawa and Pelorus), if members make use of the Torea Bay and Port Underwood moorings. These moorings are becoming increasingly expensive to maintain and if members see them as valuable, and are using them, then they will be kept and maintained. However if members don't use them, then our funds are probably better spent on upgrading existing moorings or looking at adding extra moorings in more useful locations.

If you have strong or otherwise feelings about these moorings then please send me an email to commodore@manacc.co.nz ,so that I can advise our sister clubs of our findings, to add to their own survey of members.

New Cruises

The club is planning 2 new cruises this year,  with the first one  planned for Easter Weekend, or the following week with ANZAC day, heading to Queen Charlette Sounds.

Please contact Rob Paulin via email to  rob@straitconstruction.co.nz to register your interest.

The second is planned for Labour weekend and both are naturally subject to weather conditions.

Dogs

A friendly reminder that under Porirua City Council Law, all dogs must be on a lead at all times, except for their approved areas. This is also a MCC rule, for all club areas.

Always happy to discuss any items personally with anyone at their leisure.

Hopefully those that fished the contest remembered to measure their fish.

Fishing Section Meeting

On  Wednesday 16/4/25 at 7.00pm we have the normal fishing section talk followed by a talk from Kai Ika..This is  the team that filleted most of the fish at our fishing contest for a Gold coin donation. They collected over 90 kg of fish heads and frames, which is enough protein  to create more than 50 family meals. Those who received the Kai were very grateful.

From 4-6pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. This is for Beer, Wine and RTD's.

Friday Night Business Card draws will be happening with the lucky winner taking away a bar tab voucher, and you must be present to win.

Super Rugby on this weekend,  Moana Pasifika vs Chiefs at 7.05pm tonight.

Saturday, Highlanders vs Reds at 4.35pm, Blues vs Crusaders at 7.05pm, Warratahs vs Brumbies at 9.35pm.

This has recently been added to our web page so if you want to get rid of those old bits cluttering the garage, then let us know so we can add them to the page.

Digitized Photos on Display

During some recent tidying up, we have found and digitized a large number of photos and these will be displayed on the TV in the wardroom on club nights, or as required

Enjoy the memories!
