From the CommodoreLast weekend was a big weekend, with the Annual Club Fishing Contest, proceeding as planned on Saturday. The weather gods definitely favored us by staying to the forecast, with NE winds in the morning and slowly turning to Southerlies in the pm. Thanks to Porter Hire, we were able to provide a sausage sizzle in the morning pre- boat launching, and also available at the weigh in. Just under 100 anglers, enjoyed the day out, with a lot of fish being weighed in right up until last call at 5pm. We were also able to have random spot prizes being drawn, with everyone present being able to take away a spot prize. This was made available due to some forward thinking by Mike Quayle, and some very generous sponsors. Prize giving was held shortly afterwards with a lot of very happy anglers, including some extremely happy kids. A HUGE THANK YOU to all our very GENEROUS SPONSORS, and also for the organizing team in the back ground, with key players being Kim, Nikki, and Mike, with extra help by Janet, Margo, Menno, Marty and Scott. |
Facebook Our Facebook page is back up and running again, so check out the Fishing Contest photos, and please keep a watch on this for updates, photos, and other upcoming events as well. Yard Work The trailer ramp new poles went in successfully, and the next stage is the $30k worth of pontoons, so if you are keen to sponsor 1, 2 or more of the new pontoons, please contact myself . Kapiti Boating Club Ladies Fishing Contest The Texturite Reel Women's Fishing Classic is happening on Saturday 22 March, with its focus remaining steadfast on supporting Women's Refuge in NZ. Hosted by KBC they have raised over $32,000, in the past 2 years alone. They are also looking for more sponsors, supporters, so please contact Georgia or Steve McFall at KBC for more info. Boats are also able to launch from Mana or Kapiti. Yard Maintenance Due to the above yard work being done earlier then planned, we are now able to work on cleaning up the rest of the yard and this is now planned for Saturday, 22nd March., starting at 9.00am. If you have access to a dump truck, waste bin, and or a chipper, please advise us. This will include the removal of trees and shrubs on the eastern yard, which will be replaced by a 1200mm high concrete block wall, courtesy of Higgins Concrete New Cruises The club is planning 2 new cruises with a cruise in Labour Weekend, as well as 1 prior to this with date and destination TBA.
